Text of Statement affirming our "memorial" kept in the archives of the ICCC
To The Honour and Glory of God and Our Saviour
Jesus Christ
We, the members of the American delegation
to the first session of the International Council of Christian
Churches meeting August 11th -19th , 1948
in the historic English Reformed Church of Amsterdam
do hereby thank Almighty God
that in His divine Providence
He moved upon the hearts of the people of this church
to permit it to be used as a refuge from ecclesiastical oppression,
at a time when the Pilgrim's religious freedom was jeopardized.
We, the American delegates,
feel that the issues that drove our Pilgrim Fathers to Amsterdam
and later to America
are the same issues which have motivated us
to return to the church 325 years later.
Therefore
we rededicate ourselves to God
for the maintenance of the faith "once delivered unto the saints."
