As a very closed friend of Pastor Buhler, I must tell you the death of our common brother in the Lord Jesus Christ, the 10th of December 2007, at the age of 93. Now his contending for the faith has taken an end, and he is in the presence of his glorious Saviour! He always was eager to know of how ICCC led the battle in our difficult time of apostasy. Now his work will be prolonged through the association he founded, CRIE (Centre of Research, Information and Help). Also his library is installed in Colombes (northern suburb of Paris) and is available for students and other interested persons. To be sure you are informed of the existence of his booklet on Baptism, I join here one sample of it. We have also an article that was published in 'La Bonne Nouvelle', a French magazine in whose redaction comity he was a member. May Apostle Paul's recommendation in 2 Tim 3, 14 - 17, remain our goal until the return of our Lord Jesus! Faithfully yours, E Ropp

ELDER
HENG YOW TONG Elder Heng Yow Tong, beloved by many at Zion and beyond Zion, was promoted to glory on 6th February 2008 at the age of 81 years old! He was a good man. Interestingly, only a handful of individuals in the Bible had the honour of having their entire life summarized in such a simple, yet profound sentence. Like Barnabas, "son of encouragement", Elder Heng "was a good man" (Acts 11:24. And in the words of the Psalmist, whose apt words fit our beloved Elder as a glove: he was gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. [As] a good man [he sheweth favour, and lendeth…the righteous shall be in everlasting rememberance…] His heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established… He shall not be afraid…He hath giveth to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour (Psalm 112:4b-9). Elder Heng was not wealthy. Yet he was a generous person, not just with what money he had, but with words of praise, and with his love. He was a faithful friend. He was an astute businessman and his insights contributed to whatever discussions were at hand. He was absolutely devoted to God's Word and stood firmly in it to the very end. In the eyes of many in the world he did not accomplish much. But, not only to his family, to all of us at Zion, Faith, and the rest of the Bible-Presbyterian Churches, and to all others who know the real him, we can firmly declare that Elder Heng was a true treasure, precious not only to his family and others, but cherished above all by God.
Elder Heng
was also very liberal in giving to foreign missions especially in Indonesia,
Myanmar and beyond. His long-term support and encouragement for the cause
of the proclamation of the Gospel and the defence of the Faith was indeed
very exemplary and encouraging. |
